Mt. Biking: Two Rivers - Orwell to Deben(short route) Wind Direction: Wind Stength: Surf / Sea State: Air Temperature: Sea Temperature: Weather: Mainly cloudy Max Speed: Distance Covered: 11 miles (Nautical Miles - unless stated otherwise)
Tuesday 8th September – bike *** Two River – Orwell to the Deben –
mainly cloudy.
With several days of WSW winds forecast but really bad tides meaning we
haven’t any suitable venues until the end of the week I was hoping to get
out windsurfing today at West Mersea or Levington but by the time the wind
started to build it was too late in the afternoon:( So Mag and I decided to
get out on the bikes just as the sun started to peak out. It was hard going
as we biked along the prom towards the dock into a head wind! After a run
of high tides many of the flood gates were closed but we found one open and
continued through Landguard Nature reserve to the River Deben where a quick
glimpse of sun made everything look lovely:) It was great riding back with
the wind on our backs we soon made it back past the pier! Mag turned up
Bent Hill and home while I continued along the prom, past a washed-up
dinghy looking a little sad! As usual I ended up at Felixstowe Ferry with
the sky very black, threatening rain! With a trawler high and dry being
repaired it made for some nice pics and then it was back to the head wind
as I headed back across the golf course, up Ferry Lane, through The Grove
and home just as the rain started! Hope to find some water tomorrow and if
not, Friday is looking good for a trip to Point Clear:) At home we had a
warming cuppa and a yummy vegan muffin:)
